Start with Hello Week was recognized at Medina High School, A.I. Root Middle School, and Claggett Middle School February 6-10. During the entire week, various activities took place at each of these buildings. Andre Elliott from Sandy Hook Promise made a presentation to the students at the high school and both middle schools during the week talking about the importance of reaching out to those who may feel alone and help them feel included by starting a positive conversation simply by starting with hello.
Start with Hello teaches students, grades 2-12, the skills they need to reach out to and include those who may be dealing with chronic social isolation and create a culture of inclusion. By building a culture of inclusion, schools and communities can better support their young people and reduce their risk of bullying, violence and depression.
