Medina High School Names February Students of the Month
Nicolas Colosimo is the kind of student who will continually stand out in spite of his quiet demeanor. Nick has the ability to think in imaginative and creative ways, seeking out opportunities to contribute and make a difference. His class schedule consists of a variety of Honors, Advanced Placement, and College Credit Plus courses. Nicolas has earned the MHS Academic Distinction Award Summa Cum Laude his freshman, sophomore, and junior years.
He is a member of National Honor Society, serving as treasurer, Link Crew, French Club, serving as treasurer, is a member of Key Club and HUDDLE. Nick is also a four year member of the MHS Cross Country Team, and MHS Track Team. Nick is one of five students chosen by the MHS student body as a Mr. Medina Candidate. He volunteers in the Joyce B. Ebner Tutoring Center as a peer tutor where he helps students with French. Nick also volunteers in the MHS writing studio. He works at Aquatica Aquarium Gallery in Valley City. Nicolas plans on attending college and studying cyber security. Nicolas is the son of Michael and Denise Colosimo.
Samantha Kermes is an outstanding student, setting and achieving difficult goals for herself. She is not afraid to take action or to motivate others to perform to their fullest potential. She inspires staff and students with her genuine kindness and patience. Samantha’s class schedule has consisted of Advanced Placement, Honors, and College Credit Plus courses. She has earned the MHS Academic Distinction Award Summa Cum Laude her freshman, sophomore, and junior years. Samantha is a member of National Honor Society, Link Crew, HUDDLE, Key Club, Recycling Club and Spanish Club, serving as the president. Together with students in her Capstone Class, Samantha wrote and raised funds for a Caregivers of the Future Scholarship, currently available to seniors. Samantha has volunteered in the Joyce B. Ebner Tutoring Center as a peer tutor helping students with Spanish. Over several years, and hundreds of hours, Samantha has volunteered her time at Canavan Elementary painting murals on hallway and classroom walls. She works at Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream. She plans on attending the Ohio State University, majoring in nursing, with plans on becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Samantha is the daughter of Michal and Heather Kermes.
