PLEASE NOTE DATE CHANGE TO FRIDAY, APRIL 21
Car crashes remain a leading cause of death for teens. In 2016, more the 49,100 teens, age 15-19, experienced crashes in Ohio resulting in nearly 14,000 injuries and 127 teen deaths, according to the Ohio Department of Public Safety. In an effort to lessen local teens’ risk behind the wheel, Medina High School and the Medina Police Department will once again team up with AAA Ohio Auto Club to conduct FREE Vehicle Maintenance Inspections at the high school on Friday, April 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. These courtesy inspections are designed to help avert roadside breakdowns and even crashes. During the 15 minute inspections, AAA certified mechanics will help identify potential problems with your student’s vehicle. Technicians will inspect vehicle belts, hoses, tires, lights, fluids, and batteries. After each inspection, technicians will discuss any problems detected and provide the driver with a maintenance checklist to share with his or her parent. The inspections will be held during the student’s lunch period or study hall. A free lunch will be provided to the student drivers. In addition to the free lunch, students will receive a certificate for a free AAA membership. The inspections will take place in the B2 lot in front of the football stadium. A sign-up sheet is available at the White Administration Office. A reminder will be given to the students prior to the event and act as a pass to and from the inspection. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact Officer Mike Wesner, Medina High School Resource Officer, at 330.636.3220 or by email at email@example.com.
