    Welcome to Medina City Schools

     Medina City Schools Battling Bee

The Medina City School District encompasses approximately 52 square miles which includes the City of Medina and Montville, Medina and a portion of Lafayette Townships.  The district has seven elementary buildings, two middle schools, and one high school.

Utilizing a collaborative approach, we are able to provide outstanding academics and extracurricular activities to our students in an effort to ensure that our students receive a well-rounded education. We are a district which consists of community schools where all members play an important role in the development of our students.

Our ultimate goal is not just graduation but providing students with the necessary skills to be good citizens and successful adults as they navigate through life.  It is important to instill good moral values and character that reflect the pride and expectations of our community.

Medina City Schools strives to meet the needs of "Every Student, Every Day."

  • As today is our 5th calamity day of the year, we wanted to provide an update to you regarding our required minimum number of hours of attendance, as the District has moved to hours rather than days per the Ohio Department of Education requirement.  The Ohio Department of Education requires a minimum of 455 hours of schooling for students in half-day kindergarten, 910 hours for students in full-day kindergarten through Grade 6; and 1,001 hours for students in Grades 7-12.  We currently have not exceeded our number of hours available for calamity days, however, we want to make sure that we are prepared in the event that this occurs. We will provide you with advanced notice if we approach needing to utilize make-up hours.

The Ohio Department of Education no longer requires the use of Blizzard Bags to makeup instructional hours missed due to calamity days. We will therefore not be utilizing the Blizzard Bags moving forward. An updated calendar will be available on our website in the next week.  This calendar will include potential makeup days that may be utilized if necessary. Let us all hope for improved weather throughout the remainder of the winter and early spring.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Dr. Kristine Quallich, Assistant Superintendent at 330-636-3092 or via email at
