Every Student Every Day
Welcome to Medina City Schools
Home of the Battling Bees
The Medina City School District encompasses approximately 52 square miles which includes the City of Medina and Montville, Medina and a portion of Lafayette Townships. The district has seven elementary buildings, two middle schools, and one high school.
Utilizing a collaborative approach, we are able to provide outstanding academics and extracurricular activities to our students in an effort to ensure that our students receive a well-rounded education. We are a district which consists of community schools where all members play an important role in the development of our students.
Our ultimate goal is not just graduation but providing students with the necessary skills to be good citizens and successful adults as they navigate through life. It is important to instill good moral values and character that reflect the pride and expectations of our community.
Medina City Schools strives to meet the needs of "Every Student, Every Day."

The transition to kindergarten is an important milestone for your child and family. The staff from Medina City Schools looks forward to joining you on this journey. Our elementary principals and kindergarten teachers wanted to provide you with resources and ideas that you can incorporate into your everyday routines to continue to support your child as they prepare to start kindergarten. Every week we will share a Getting Ready for Kindergarten tip and accompanying video to continue to strengthen the skills for school readiness. We look forward to welcoming your child to our Medina City Schools Community. Changes to the Free Breakfast and Lunch Program
Earlier this year, the Federal Government announced they will no longer provide funding for school districts to offer free breakfast and lunch to all students during the 2022-23 school year. We recognize this change will impact some of our families and want to inform you before the new school year starts.
Medina City Schools will continue to offer free and reduced meals to students in need as we did prior to the pandemic, following the same Federal guidelines. Families must complete a free and reduced lunch form to enroll in the program. These forms will be available AFTER July 1st. More details will be provided in June.
Meal Prices for 2022-2023
An increase in meal prices was approved during the Monday, May 16, 2022, regular meeting of the Board of Education. Meal prices starting next school year will be:
Breakfast – $2.50
Lunch
Elementary School $3.25
Middle and high school
Regular $3.50
Deluxe $3.75
Adult Lunch $4.75
Intradistrict Open Enrollment
Option Information
The Intradistrict Open Enrollment Option is available to all Medina City Schools’ students who wish to attend an elementary or middle school other than the one they are assigned within the school district during the 2022-2023 school year. This option is based on enrollment numbers, as well as space and staff availability. Class assignments are made only to those grades that are at the District class size less one.
Intradistrict Open Enrollment requests will be accepted on the Medina City Schools website beginning at midnight Friday, April 1, 2022. To view the Intradistrict Open Enrollment form, click here or visit the Student Registration tab in the green bar at the top of the website, then to the link to Intradistrict Open Enrollment. Requests will be accepted via online submission only from midnight Friday, April 1, 2022, through Thursday, May 26, 2022, for the 2022-2023 school year. Parents will be notified in writing of their child’s acceptance/non-acceptance no later than the second week of August 2022. Assignments may be revoked in reverse order of date received (last in, first out) if enrollment figures no longer allow for additional classroom space.
Parents whose children are approved for this Intradistrict Open Enrollment Option are responsible for transporting their own children to and from the school.
As a matter of information, Medina City Schools does not allow students from other school districts to enroll in the Medina City School District under the Intradistrict Open Enrollment Option. However, Medina City Schools does allow students to leave the District to attend another district.
For more information, please contact the Office of Registration at 330-636-3100 or email at rottingl@medinabees.org.
