The Medina City School District encompasses approximately 52 square miles which includes the City of Medina and Montville, Medina and a portion of Lafayette Townships.  The district has seven elementary buildings, two middle schools, and one high school.

Utilizing a collaborative approach, we are able to provide outstanding academics and extracurricular activities to our students in an effort to ensure that our students receive a well-rounded education. We are a district which consists of community schools where all members play an important role in the development of our students.

Our ultimate goal is not just graduation but providing students with the necessary skills to be good citizens and successful adults as they navigate through life.  It is important to instill good moral values and character that reflect the pride and expectations of our community.

Medina City Schools strives to meet the needs of "Every Student, Every Day."

Online Learning Opportunities For The 2021-2022 School Year

  • Online Learning Opportunities for the 2021-2022 School Year

We have been in discussions with all the Medina County schools in an effort to collaborate with and pool our resources to seek to provide a unique online learning academy for the 2021-22 school year.  With this in mind, we are asking for your assistance in helping us move to the next level of planning.

The online school is an optional learning opportunity for students and families who might not be comfortable returning to in-person learning.  The academy is unique because it will provide real-time instruction from a live instructor - coming as close as possible to duplicating an in-person classroom environment.  Students will remain part of our District and able to participate in all extracurricular activities.

So, what are we asking of parents/guardians at this time?  While we understand there is still much uncertainty surrounding COVID, we need to obtain some level of commitment from our stakeholders to allow for accurate planning for all schools and the Educational Service Center (ESC) to proceed to the next level.  We would ask that, if this is the learning environment you desire for your student(s) for next year, you please complete the online application (link below, as well as in the attached documents).  To be clear, while we believe this is an outstanding opportunity for some of our families, none of the schools can proceed with our commitment to the program if we do not have a sufficient level of interest from our parents and students.  If we do not obtain at least 20 students countywide at a grade level, we may not be able to proceed with this collaborative effort.

Please click here for an informational flyer about the ESC’s Virtual Academy.

Please click here for the Parent Agreement form.

Please click here for the Registration form.

We hope that this model will be supportive for those still seeking online learning for their students.

If you have any questions specific to the Medina County Online Virtual Academy, please contact Jacinda Yonker, ESC Director of Curriculum & Gifted Services, for more information via email or phone 330-723-6393.
