Mrs. Gretchen Newton

Mrs. Newton graduated from The Ohio State University with both her Bachelor’s (2011) and Master’s (2012) degrees in Middle Childhood Education.  After starting her teaching career in Maple Heights, Gretchen was able to return to her alma mater, Medina, in 2014.  She began her time in the district at Garfield Elementary School, where she taught 5th grade.  Following her three years in the classroom, she moved into an administrative intern role at both Garfield and Fenn Elementary and then accepted the position of Associate Principal at Claggett Middle School.  This past school year, Mrs. Newton returned to the elementary level and served as the Associate Principal at Ella Canavan.  Gretchen is excited to continue her time at Ella Canavan as the building principal during the 2023-2024 school year.

Mrs. Newton and her husband, Chase, reside in Medina with their one-year-old daughter, Bethany, and black labrador retriever, Porter.  As a family, they enjoy boating in the summer, cheering on the Buckeyes, and exploring all of the great activities Medina has to offer.  The Newtons are proud to be Medina Bees!
