A.I. Root Middle School

Welcome to A.I. Root Middle School!  We represent one of two middle schools in the Medina City School District housing approximately 700 students, grades 6-8.  Our goal is to help every student find success and continue to grow academically and socially.  Middle school is such a pivotal and exciting time for students to develop as leaders in skills of:

• Character:  respectful citizens as responsible decision makers
• Interactions With Others:  effective collaborators and communicators
• Thinking and Learning:  innovative problem-solvers, inspired learners, and discovering their unique strengths, passions, and interests.

At Medina City Schools, we believe teaming provides a student-centered environment where students feel safe, supported, and a sense of belonging which helps them grow to be productive members of society.  We value partnerships with Root students, staff, families, and our greater Medina community.

Our students receive opportunities in core academic areas (Math, English Language Arts, Science and Social Studies) along with courses in Art, Project Lead the Way, Music (Band, Choir, Orchestra), Physical Education, Foreign Language, Health, and other elective courses all designed to develop a student’s knowledge and experiences. We take great pride in the success of our students and their continued development as young adolescents.

Root Middle School offers many athletic and co-curricular opportunities. These programs are a great way for our students to become involved in their school and community while improving our school atmosphere. As a bonus, many friendships are made during these activities!
